True Whiting

True Whiting creates from the place where the world of dreams and mythology intersects with the enchantment of nature and the lived human experience. Her paintings integrate and are catalyzed by the healing practices she has gathered across the decades as a psychologist as well as a shamanic and yoga practitioner. Whether drawing from world mythologies or energies from her personal cosmology, True paints to expand her own vision and to share in the vibrational potential of human consciousness.

True paints in acrylic on wood using an adaptation of the mische technique, a method of layering with glazes first developed by the 15th Century Flemish Masters. True often incorporates transparencies into her paintings in which two or more images are overlayed to communicate the multiplicity of reality and planes of existence. Themes of her work in 2024 included the faces of the goddess and explorations of life following the human incarnation.

In addition to her career as an artist, True is the founder of True Whiting Studio for Art and Wellbeing in Winston-Salem, NC where she works as a healing practitioner and creativity mentor.
